Where the Hell Have I Been?

Wow. It's been 19 days since I last graced the online world (and intruded on yours) with a blog post. And while I could offer up my busy life as an excuse, it's not much of one. I don't really have a life, much less a busy one. I do have a dog, however. As well as a pimple that keeps reappearing on my forehead. However, I digress.

Since my last post:
  • The in-laws visited. And, the weekend didn't suck. I seem to recall a nice dinner out that Friday evening (even nicer because they paid), the discovery of a terrific breakfast place on Saturday morning and grilling and dining outside on Saturday night.
  • I got promoted at work. And while this was generally a good thing, a bit of chaos involving office assignments ensued. Although I "took one for the team," I do have a window again, which helps ease the sting.
  • I went to Vegas. Yes, again. This time for my buddy Tim's bachelor party. And as I expertly predicted months ago, it did not snow. In fact, it was cloudless and in the 90s for just about the entire trip. All-in-all, a very successful trip: all of Tim's friends got along very well, we engaged in a lot of fun, mostly legal activities, Del Friscos was as good as it's ever been, I won money at the tables...AND took a bump that gave me a voucher for the next flight to Vegas in December. Good times.
  • Jenn left me. Albeit for a God conference in Grand Rapids. Why God, or anyone else, would want to meet up in Grand Rapids is beyond me - although I suspect it's better than Detroit - but who am I to question the Almighty?
  • I went to Tim and Lauren's wedding. While it was definitely a good time, I was most impressed by the food. It wasn't just good, it was extremely good. Beef Wellington appetizers? You had me at Beef Wellington. The filet for dinner was tender and actually cooked medium rare and the accompanying risoto was damn fine. Oh, and the open bar was nice.
  • Jenn returned home. And subsequently refused to cook dinner. Something about traveling all day and getting in at 7:30 p.m. Whatever.
Anyway, I plan to resume a more normal blogging schedule - at least once a week - with the next update coming up in a few days. I am going to use that time to appropriately mourn the passing of Billy Mays and appropriately mock anyone who seriously mourns the passing of Michael Jackson.

And I am going to buy an iPhone.

  1. Yeah...I believe youll "resume a more normal blogging schedule" when I see it. Here is what I did since your last post.

Monday, June 15th: Looked for a new post.
Tuesday, June 16th: Looked for a new post.
    Wednesday, June 17th: Went fishing.
Thursday, June 18th: Called and wished Julie O a happy birthday, and looked for a new post.

Friday, June 19th: Looked for a new post. Checked out "The Stace!" because you had nothing new.

Monday, June 22nd: Looked for new post, and read some old "The Stace!" blogs. Deep woman. Reread my comments on your Cars post and noted all my grammatical and spelling mistakes. Also noted how awesome I am.

Tuesday, June 23rd: Wondered if you were still alive as I looked for new posts. Checked out The Saint! and Lisa! but no one updates as much as you do. (can you believe it?) Stacey updates more than you though.

Wednesday, June 24th: Considered changing out the bookmark to be a link to "The Stace!" and periodically checking in on your blog to see if there any updates. Saw no new posts here, so I read Staceys 'Coupling' blog. I think her and I may have been separated at birth. Either that or Im more feminine than I once thought.

Thursday June 25th: Deleted your bookmark completely after checking for new posts. (did you know Sacey even writes on weekends???)

Friday June 26th: Forgot how many "e"s were in your title (5) so it took a while to find your
blog again. No new posts though, so nothing to worry about. Much to relate to on "The Stace!" though, even though I'm not a Gemini.

Monday, June 29th: Staceys post on "Love" has things in it I was never able to articulate ...ever. However, I feel each and every part of it when I think about and spend time with my wife. Well done Stacey. Well done indeed. Thanks for nothing Jon.

Tuesday, June 30th: Stacey with ANOTHER post! The frequency is amazing, but obviously she is feeling some pain. I doubt she'll read this since she too knows you never update this blog, but I'll say it anyway just in case. To Stacey: This wont help you at all with those internal struggles and hardship, but in my opinion, youre a good person and ready to be a great mom!! I'd wish you luck if I thought you needed it, but based on what Ive read, youll do a kickass job without it!!

Wednesday, July 1st: Wondering what Stacey will write about next.

Thursday, July 2nd. Google looking for Superman quotes and find link to your blog. I discover there is a new post. Maybe I'll write a little something.

Congrats on the promotion Jon. And congrats on Jenn actually coming home.

Im not sure which is more monumental. ;)

  2. First, let it be known that I do still read this blog. That is, when there is a new post. I--like you Mark--checked frequently to find nothing. I'm glad to see new updates. And, I'm glad I was able to entertain you in the meantime, Mark. Thanks for the feedback and, dare I say, compliments about my postings. And, most importantly, thanks for the kind words about my potential as a kick ass mom. It is a challenge I'm up for and beyond excited about.

Jon--nice recap of recent weeks. How did I miss those apps at the wedding?
